Lillian Whiting Banquet

Ryley and Megan will be honored at the Lillian Whiting Banquet for all their hard work and accomplishments on Sunday, Oct. 19 in Des Moines. Way to go Girls - You make us proud.

Wow, the 2008 - 2009 Tumbling/Trampoline season is off to a great start. The tumblers are remarkable. This is going to be a very enjoyable year.

One month into tumbling and here are some of the accomplishments: Piper W., Amanda B., Alexis C., Autumn T., Caitlin D., Anna P., Paige H., have all moved to the Sub Novice level (starting back handsprings). Sara R., have moved from Beginner to Advanced Beginner. We have two preschoolers - Emma B. and Addy S., who are in the beginner class and they are doing fantastic. Ryley G. and Madison S. are doing extremely well on Trampoline. Jaden P. got her cody on tramp (3/4 back to a 1 1/4 back somi), she also got her double full (back layout somi with two twists) on trampoline and double mini. Can't wait till she can throw that on floor. Jaden is working very hard to qualify elite on all three pieces of equipment.

Sorry, not all the shoes are in. We got lucky with the first order, but now is the time everyone has ordered and some sizes are out of stock. Hopefully they will be in sooon.

Parent Viewing Day

Parent Viewing Day will be Oct. 28, 29 & 30. The 6:00 Tuesday class will have their viewing time during their class on Thursday. This will be done kind of like the open house at school. The tumblers will show you what they are working on and/or what they like to do. Please remember, this is only for the parents, do not bring siblings, relatives or friends with you. We do not have room, and it is really hard for the tumblers to do what they do with little ones running around. We will end the day with a couple of games.

Weather and Congestion

As you know, the area inside the door is so small, and soon the weather will be changing and the tumblers will be coming with coats, boots, etc., so to alleviate some of the congestion in the entry, we are asking you.....if you have children who are old enough to come in by themselves, please let them, we do want everyone to come in to pick their child up. When there are 20 kids and 20 parents, it is ...... a mess. Also, please drive in and out of the driveway carefully. Some of the students are very small and move very quickly. In this day and age, it seems like we all have some place we need to be immediately, but please, slow down, take a deep breath and an extra look. Thank YOU

Reminders:

Parking - it's terrible, but please do not block the end of the driveway or the garage door. IF we had an emergency, we need the door and to be able to get out. Do not park your car in the drive and leave.

Pretty soon the heat will be turned on. Please do not stand and talk with the door open. It really sends a cold rush down the gym and also makes the heat bill go sky high. We try to keep it warm for the kids.

Please have your child's hair pulled away from their face when they come to class. Pig tails for long hair doesn't work very well, the hair falls to the sides and then their hands or my knees get on the hair and it pulls. Pony tails on the top of the head for preschoolers, beginner and advanced beginners doesn't work very well either, it hurts when they roll on it. We don't want their hair hitting them in the face or eye. This is a safety issue. When something hits you in the eye, your first reaction is to put your hand to your eye, in tumbling/trampoline that hand should be blocking your head.

Private Lessons

We have had a lot of requests for private lessons, so Nov. 15 & 29 will be private lessons. We are going to do this a little different this time. Lessons can be private or semi private. If you choose semi private, we want them at the same level or close to the same level in tumbling. Example - Beginner and Advanced Beginner, Sub Novice and Novice, Intermediate and up. Not Beginner and Sub Novice. Cost for private lessons - $25.00, Cost for semi private lessons - $20 each. All lessons are 45 minutes. See the bulletin board for sign up.

We will be doing clinics over Christmas break.

Any questions, please feel free to ask.

Untill next time.....

LET'S GET READY TO TUMBLE!!!
